The Gardens at Capheaton Hall – Past and Present

The story of a garden which has been in the same family for over 700 years.

Fashions, fortunes and techniques may have changed, but there are some constants: ancient brick walls, trained fruit and regiments of leeks & potatoes.

Gone are the pineapples but ‘in’ are the grasses and modern cultivars.

Jane is a gardener at Capheaton Hall, Northumberland, and a member of the North East Group of The Hardy Plant Society.
